I take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt greetings on this New Year. As we enter a new decade of this century, we arrive at a major landmark in our chequered history. The completion of 75 years of eventful existence and unmatched service to business is an occasion to savour with pride. We acknowledge and stand firm on the strength of our past and look to the future to take our role in the continually evolving market place . The opportunities and challenges of today are markedly different from the ones which confronted our legendary founders. The world has become a global village and competition is more fierce than ever before. New thoughts and ideas and even newer realizations are rewriting history forever. Our leadership for so many years, together with our recognition and reputation is a result of YOUR untiring efforts and the landmark achievements of our predecessors. Let us all set an even better value for ourselves and achieve more. I have great belief in YOUR dreams and aspirations and I am confident that if we harness our collective strength, we shall retain our leadership for the next 75 years as well. As the team and I put together the plans for 2010, I am cautiously optimistic about the outlook, driven by economic recovery and growth in the country. I believe that this year we have to push ahead with the High Performance Organization (HPO) programme – this programme is about improving the way we do business, providing better service to customers, focusing on good execution and developing our people. With the work we propose to do on HPO, I believe we will derive many benefits which will make our business more competitive and customer focused. With many interesting things expected in 2010, I am really looking forward to the new year. I hope you are too and that together, we will support each other as we strive towards achieving our goal of becoming an HPO.
